What can you learn about relationships from a famous basketball point guard?
A ton.
Steve Nash, one of the best to play the game, wasn't the biggest guy on the court. In fact, he was pretty small by NBA's standards sitting at 6ft 3inches. However, that guy could handle the ball like magic.
What made him really fun to watch?
He could pass. He could pass like no one else in the game.
He could pick apart another teams defense with ease. Nothing was off limits for him.
And he did...time and time again.
One time, a reporter asked him what his goal was when he went out onto the court every day and his answer to the question was perfect. So good in fact it has me writing about it years later.
Nash said that he wasn't trying to be the highest scorer on the team...
But he wanted to be the teammate that made everyone else look incredible.
he would turn the average players on his team into great players.
And then he would make the great players look even better. That was his goal every single time.
And so I ask you today, "Are you making the people around you better...or worse?"
Are you an addition to their lives are you a subtraction?
Ask this question of every single relationship you have.
But there's another piece to this conversation that's incredibly important.
It's about other people and what they are bringing to your life. Are they making you better or are they making you worse? Is your life toxic or is it healthy?
If you are out there in the world spreading positivity you need to have people who also fill up your cup as well. You need to have people supporting you instead of bringing you down all the time. You can't live a healthy and happy life alone, but you also can't live a great life with toxic relationships spreading their poison in you.
Don't ever forget...you are a product of the people you hangout with and your environment as well.
Always remember that.
