Moisturize African American Hair For Faster Growth

By Dennis Olson

Taking care of locks is essential to the outward confidence of a person. Whether a person wears their tresses curly, straight, or natural, it helps to keep the strands and scalp clean at all times. However, due to common dryness, many people grew up with various myths about maintaining this type of mane. The idea here is neatness and being able to moisturize African American hair for better manageability.

One of the most popular myths is the use of grease to keep the scalp from going dry. Normally, if a person has dry outer skin, their scalp is usually no different. However, using a heavy oil that clogs pores is not necessary to prevent flaking and itching. There are a lot of brands on the market that sound appealing but if the price is significantly lower than most on the shelf, then it helps to do a little research first.

The best way to bring in new texture is to get rid of the old. This may start with a conditioner that made for dry or damaged hair. In extreme cases, a hot oil treatment may do the job. These are most effective when a pure oil is used, such as olive. Make sure that it is not the light version or something that uses a cheaper oil like canola or vegetable.

Whether a person wears their tresses natural or uses a chemical straightener, moisturizing should not be looked at as a chore. For one, if hair is in reasonably good condition, it is not necessary to use a lot of products. Even if there is some damage, all it takes is something to lubricate each strand and maybe a light pure oil to control scalp flaking.

A lot of people make their own moisturizer that uses mostly aloe vera or vitamin E oil. Although making home hair products takes time and a little patience, it pays off for those who may be on a budget. It can also be a good backup for those who are loyal to premium products or those which are hard to find in most stores.

Just taking a half hour to section tresses every night to brush and add a moisturizer will pay off. Styles will last longer and growth is most likely to occur. However, not all moisturizers are made the same just like not everyone has the same hair type.

Using petroleum or mineral oil based products is not always recommended for regular use. Some people may use it sparingly on extra dry hair during extreme weather conditions but overall, it helps to use something that does not contain chemicals, like argan oil. While the mane may feel soft to the tough, inexpensive brands seldom have the capability to moisturize each strand, no matter how much is used.

Once a person finds a way to care for their hair at home, they should stick to it for as long as possible. For those that travel, it helps to keep appropriate containers to store enough safely while away from home. When a mane is soft without being greasy, it becomes stronger and makes growth easier.
